CO Mountain Labradoodles

More Testimonials & Updates

Juniper: May 2014

I highly recommend Colorado Mountain Labradoodles as a breeder. Maila was very helpful and answered any and all questions we had. We had talked to her for months before getting our precious pup Juniper. Juniper is such a joy and is a very good girl. She already knew how to tell us potty after only being here a couple weeks. They truly are very smart dogs.  If you have been searching for a great breeder and a labradoodle you have come to the right place!

Sincerely, Michael and Shalana Roberts.

*Moses*

Hi Maila,

Yes, he really is adjusting well.  He's getting lots of exercise, love and sleep.  We're so lucky to live so close to the park.  I can take him on the leash and it's the perfect short walk to practice walking.  Then we can let him off the leash and just run and run in the big grassy field.  There, he has met a few dogs (some other labradoodles too) and he's also attracting lots of little kids.  They all love him and want to pet him.  They've all been very gentle as has Moses.  He will stop dead in his tracks to watch an older dog and his owner playing fetch with a ball.  He watches very intently as if to be studying the game.  Hopefully, he's picking it up!  :O)  On our first walk home from the park, it was great fun to watch Moses just smile and jump and run the whole way home.  He seemed so happy to have met all of the dogs and people, to have smelled all of the smells and to have been able to freely run and run through the grass.  He loved it!  And boy did he sleep when he got back...I got a lot done. *laughs*

He doesn't seem to mind the crate.  He whimpers a bit at night but we've been letting him out once in the middle of the night to pee and he comes in and goes right back to sleep.  He's really bonding with us and often comes to curl up in my lap or lay his head on my feet.  He's doing well with sitting and we're now starting to work on "Come".  He mostly chews on just his chew toys.  He, very manageably, ventures off to chew on other strange things in the house.  He is easy to distract and does not like Bitter Apple spray so it's not a problem at all.  I am offering him a few frozen treats and he likes those a lot.  I'll also be heading out today to buy a few more chew toys now that I know what he likes.  Oh!  He also really likes running through the sprinklers!  He becomes energized when when he's a little damp.

Thank you for preparing the puppies the way you did.  It really encouraged us to see that he already knew how to sit and that he so easily adjusted to his crate.  He's a healthy, happy boy!  Your care is much appreciated.

Thanks again,
Emily and Eric

Moffat: July 2010

To any prospective labradoodle owners,

We’re sure you are looking for some information to help you guide your purchase. We feel compelled to share our Colorado Mountain Labradoodle experience with you, as well as tell you a little about our new family member, Moffat.

We were looking for a dog we could live with because of our son’s allergy to pet dander. We knew we wanted a labradoodle but didn’t know how to find a good breeder. Our first interest in Colorado Mountain Labradoodles was kindled when viewing the website including numerous testimonials from people who have purchased puppies. It was very apparent that the people who bought puppies from Maila, didn’t just “do business”, they had formed relationships with her.

The more we emailed or spoke to Maila, the more we liked her. It is very evident that Maila’s priority and passion with her business is the puppies well-being. She always took time to promptly reply to any questions we had and aways provided weekly updates with the puppies photos, weights, and even some videos.

We couldn’t wait for selection day, not only to see the puppies, but to meet Maila and her family. We felt more like we making new friends, not just performing a business transaction. We got to meet the puppies “mom” and “dad” and got to spend a lot of time with the puppies to determine which one we wanted. Maila had us bring a toy or two from home to help Moffat get used to our scent to ease the transition as well as to use in crate training her.

When we arrived to pick up Moffat, we brought our children who had absolutely no idea that we were about to get a puppy. Maila was in on the surprise and had fun with us. Maila made a packet with photos of Moffat's first weeks as a puppy. When the time came to take our new family member away, we could see how much Maila was going to miss her and it was apparent that Moffat was not just raised, but loved and cared for. (please see the attached photo)

Moffat is an affectionate, sensitive, loving clown and a bundle of fleece. Our son has never had a problem with allergies around her. The mix of poodle and labrador has given her such good traits, and she is very smart and obedient for a pup. We love watching her run and play with her beautiful fleece coat. She is very social and people are drawn to her wherever we take her.

Since picking up Moffat, Maila has checked in to see how Moffat is doing and we send her photos. Maila helped organize a litter reunion for all the puppies and we have gotten to be friends with other owners and even have had puppy play dates. For us, this kind of openness and willingness to have a relationship beyond a business transaction is a testimony why anyone would want a Colorado Mountain Labradoodle puppy.

Breeder referral email from Moffat's owners :-)

We can't tell you how glad we are to be able to send you this referral of Colorado Mountain Labradoodles. We started getting to know Maila Estabrook about a year ago when we decided it was time for another dog. We had been without one for awhile as our youngest has allergies to pet dander. We have never had a labradoodle nor been around many before our experience with CML (Colo. Mtn. Labradoodles). From our very first email to Maila, we have felt so fortunate to have developed a relationship with her. I think that is the key in our satisfaction as customers. Maila is very open and relational which lends itself to accountability. We actually don't feel like customers as much as adoptive parents of our labradoodle and friends with Maila.
From our first inquiries, she has always been available for any questions and loves to hear about all of her pups as they grow. She has a facebook page to keep in touch and has joined our group on DoodleKisses.com. She kept us up to date with emails, photos and videos of the pups as they were growing before selection time came. On selection day, she gave us all the time in the world to get to know all the pups. She asked us to bring some toys and/or a blanket for our pup, Moffat, for crate training, to play with and get used to our scent. When it came time to pick up Moffat she even helped us in the surprise for our kids. Afterwards she would check in via email to see how everything was and if we needed anything or had any questions. Last summer she set up reunion of the litter to which many of us attended. She has even agreed to dog sit for us if we need her too.

I suppose you may want to hear a little about our dog, Moffat. She has been an absolute joy to have! She is very smart and just about the most lovable dog we have ever known. (She thinks she is a 70 pound lap dog... yes we spoil her...) She is very interactional with the family and even lines up for goodbye kisses with my wife and kids when she sees me in uniform ready to leave for work! She is very healthy and we have had no reason to believe she has any problems related to poor breeding. Several times we have tossed around the idea of getting another labradoodle and we wouldn't consider getting one from anyone but Maila.

In summary it is very easy to tell that Maila is a breeder for more than a means of income. You can tell in the photo below how attached she was to our pup. She loves her dogs and we feel a great sense of connection with her as owners. We have made sure she knows to use us as a reference for any potential customer. We can't say enough about CML (or our dog for that matter), and we hope to be able share our experience with others. I hope this letter has given you the information you need to add CML to you website, we can only think that doing so will give you even more credibility. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any more questions

 Brodie: September 2008

Hi Maila!

How are you? I'm so happy to hear that you had a great vacation. We're doing great! Having Brodie as part of our family has certainly been lifechanging, and for the better! You won't believe it, but at 18 weeks he weighed in at 52 pounds! The vet says he's perfectly healthy and actually just skin and bones (his coat makes him look bigger than he is!)

It was kind of an uneventful summer because we didn't want to take him out of the house much until he completed his shots. But, since we finished the shots we've been really busy. We started with a camping trip in Utah (his first experience in a lot of water- he loved it but won't get his head under the water!)- he gets dirty so fast but it brushes right out of his hair when he dries :-), then we went to my Uncle's ranch in Utah for Labor day weekend. He got to play with 5 other dogs and had the run of over 100 acres for about a week!  Its so funny to watch him play with other dogs because he's still a puppy but so much bigger than everyone else. Its also fun to watch him experience things like horses, birds and other wildlife for the first time.

We also started his first set of training classes. The trainer bumped him up from the puppy class to the advanced beginner class because he's so advanced. Already he is able to heel while walking on leash, sit, stay, come, drop it, leave it, take it, wait, down, up (into the car), and shake :-)  She said he's several months more advanced than other puppies his age. We're considering using him as a service dog (to visit the elderly and children who are sick in the hospital or assisted living facilities) when he's older, of course. We really enjoy volunteer work too, so its something we can do as a family! He has such a great personality and is so friendly.

He started teething last month, too. He's lost all of his puppy teeth (I've stepped on many of them)! He's starting to grow them all back in, but for a while, he only had his front teeth and very back ones- nothing in the middle. So, his eating habits changed a bit and he's had off and on diarrhea for a while now. I'm hoping they're related. At first we thought he was sick, so we took him the vet for a stool sample. He was negative for everything and still has lots of energy so we think its just the teething. What do you think?

He really has been such a joy. He wasn't much of a cuddler when he was little, but now that he's a giant all he wants to do is climb in our laps and stay there :-) We love it of course, but if he gets much bigger its going to be a challenge! And he is the cutest puppy there ever was! Every where we go or walk, people stop their cars on the side of the road to ask about him! I can't let Randy out with him alone, or he's swarmed by women wanting to ask about Brodie! :-) We do love him very much!

I have attached some pictures of him for you. When I get a second, I'll scan it and send a picture that we had taken on the 4th of July of the three of us.

Hope you all are doing well and hope Keziah loves school! We'll be in touch!

Take care,
Jaime

 YAZ: Mon, 29 Nov 2010

Maila,

I hope you and your family had a nice Thanksgiving holiday!  My parents, brother, sister-in-law and my 2 month old nephew came to Denver to celebrate with us.  They brought their 2 year old Chihuaha, Pedro, so Yaz had a lot of fun playing.  I thought I would send you a few pics from this weekend.  Yaz is getting bigger by the day!  He's around 40 lbs now.  He loves to play and by the height of his jumping, I'd say that we should buy a frisbee ASAP.  As you can see from the pictures, Yaz and Pedro had a lot of fun playing together.  Yaz is such a loving dog and listens pretty good.

Yaz has all of his shots completed and we also added Lepro....something.  I guess it's to prevent some sort of virus that is passed by squirrels and rabbits, which we have plenty of.  He is really good at vet and quite the celebrity there.  They take every animal's picture and give the owner a ID card with the current shots and vaccinations.  The staff used Yaz's picture on their computer home screen.  They think he is the cutest puppy ever!   He loves his walks and our bike rides.  He also loves running around in the snow.  I've taken him to several Puppy classes where they get socialization.  The Dumb Friends League of Denver has a Puppy Preschool class that has been great.  It's mostly play time, but he's definitely learned some dog manners there.  He's started mounting every dog and person's leg and learned at Puppy Preschool that this is not appropriate.  As for grooming, I'm not very good at  getting all of his mats, so I think I take him to get groomed every month or two so they can get what I miss in my weekly brushing.  Yaz isn't too fond of the brush.

I'm making an appointment to get him neutered in December or January.  I'll provide you with the details and paperwork.  We just love our Yaz and are having so much fun with him.

Happy Holidays!
Carrie, Brendan and Yaz

Layla: July 2008

Hi Maila,
I'm not sure if you've left for the Philippines yet, but my sister just emailed me some more pictures of our camping trip and I wanted you to see us attempting to put Layla in my backpack when she was getting a little tired. It was pretty funny.

She continues to be fantastic. She is doing so well in her puppy class. She knows sit, down, leave it, loose leash walking, and now we are working on come. Our whole family continues to adore her.

It's been fun reading all the testimonials. You have to feel so good for all the wonderful dogs you have placed. I continually have people asking me where we got Layla and they are very interested in the breed. I boast about you and the way you raised and prepared puppies for their families.

I hope all your family and friends are safe in the Philippines- I've been thinking of you while seeing the news. Take care!

Debra

Kali: June 2009

Maila,

I hope that everything is going well - you still have another litter due in a week or two - right?

I wanted for you and your daughter to know how well Kali is doing. She had her first visit to our vet
last week. She weighed in at almost 17 pounds - you can almost watch her grow. She will be every bit
as big as her mother. She has a vocabulary of 8-10 words now and is completely house-trained and barks
at the door to go outside. She walks well on a leash and knows what "go for a walk" means. We walk 2.5 miles
every morning - she has become a wonderful companion on my daily walks. I still miss my Maggie - but Kali is
working hard on  filling in our hearts.

Here is a picture taken this morning - she is quite the cutie.

I can't say thank you enough for providing us with such a wonderful dog.

Michael

Ginger: May 2009

Hi Maila,

Ginger is doing well, still off her  feed a bit but super active and  adjusting to her new environment (and me) nicely.

I hope everything went well in Denver.

I thought I'd let you know that Ginger went to my vet on Tuesday. He's a nice guy but very business-like. He's not the type to give complements. HOWEVER, he surprised me by saying that as far as dog breeders went (and in his 20+ years he's seen a lot) you and your vet rate a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. I don't know if you're the type  to receive super complements from another professional but you sure got one from Dr. Monyek. Actually he just reaffirmed something I already knew. Oh, and by the way, Ginger came through with flying colors......naturally.

Reed: July 2009

Maila,

I hope you are doing well! The newest litter looks great! I'm sure they are keeping you really busy!

Reed is doing wonderfully! In the past month we have gone to Aspen, Maroon Bells, Independence Pass, back east to Pennsylvania, and to many of the local parks/lakes. I have yet to go on a single walk where other people are around and not be stopped by people wanting to meet him. He LOVES meeting people and people love him! I continue to get great compliments like "What a cute puppy!" and "Such a well- behaved puppy!"

At this point he has mastered his name, sit, lay down, go to kennel, and come... no accidents in the house for many weeks now. it is all going very well! Such a smart puppy! I hope to start puppy classes after his last round of vaccinations in the next few weeks. And boy is he growing FAST! He put on 15 pounds this past month... he's over 40lbs now!

We are moving to Westminster in two weeks... which will be great for both of us. TONS of open space and many trails... plus a park right across the street! It will be a great change and opportunity for us both!

I have attached a few photos... including one from the Maroon Bells.

You are more than welcome to use anything I have sent you for your website.

THANK YOU!!
Nick

Fiona: August 2009

Hello woman   How is school? How long is school? We just wanted to tell you what a treat Fiona is...too cute and already bigger! She is very smart and if we watch her... rarely has a urine accident and never a poo accident.  She had her first puppy class yesterday...she doesn't for sure get her name,  especially if there are distractions but she was the youngest and the biggest.....funny.   She already is good about sitting and letting you clean her paws by the door.  We moved her to the bedroom last night and she seemed to do better...since her brother is now sleeping elsewhere....She is hysterical with Lover Boy.....he is amazing with her and tolerates ALOT...but is never too far away from her. .....TOO CUTE!!   The new testing site sounds like a must....we will wait for a chocolate wavy boy and now Fiona can train him!   You are welcome to visit or stay if you are ever in Denver....   take care   marie and joe

Tess: August 2009

I think there are a lot of similarities.  They are all really nice family dogs so I am excited to see how she develops. I don't know Boone (the poodle) as well but he seems to be a wonderful dog and the Labrador side are some of my favorite dogs ever.  I grew up with their puppies when we would stay the summer at the farm and I always loved it.  I am sure that she will be just as sweet and fun as both sides of her family.  They littler that
Gauge came out of was their first and last litter of Labradoodles.  Gypsy was older and they decided to fix her afterwards. I am so glad to hear about Huck!  I am sure it's suddenly very quiet around your house.  Tess had her first training session today.  We are working on come, sit and heel and she was amazing.  Even Jake (our 8 year old) got
involved and is helping with her training.  She had a great time and it's been a wonderful experience for the boys.  The youngest boys were too little to remember Einstein as a puppy so this is really new for them.  I can't get over what an amazing dog she is.  The trainer said that she was just perfect, not too shy (she grew out of her timid phase:)) and not too assertive.  He said he thinks she will really be a wonderful dog when she grows up, not that we had any doubts, but it's always fun to hear that:) I can't wait for the reunion so that you can see her again.  She has gained nearly 5 pounds and is a couple inches taller.  She even mastered stairs! There are a couple of pictures of her, mostly from late last week, but the last one is from today.  She's quite the looker!

Take care,

 Alisa

Scout: September 2009

Maila -

All is well here.  Scout is just awesome, so happy she's a part of our family.  I've attached some photos of her eating a bone yesterday!

We met another one of your dogs who is now 2 yrs. old. Trying to recall the dog's name - Daisy, maybe???  Anyway, it was Scout's first day at a dog park here in Parker, CO and how ironic to meet another labradoodle from one of your litters.  We laughed while Scout curiously, yet a little timidly went around meeting all the other dogs.  Another dog would show dominance and she would roll on her back and spread her arms and legs.  So funny!   The 2 yr. old labradoodle was so strong and tall and a great retreiver of the tennis ball.  We couldn't believe that Scout too, will be a such BIG girl before we know it.

My husband has been training her to fetch and she's gotten really good at this this week.  We have also trained her to sit when another dog is passing rather than to pull towards the dog.  She's so smart!  People can't believe that she can sit, lay-down, roll-over at 16 weeks.  She also stays close to us when we allow her to be off the leash on a path.

She's doing well with crate training, but prefers her big fluffy bed at night.  We've given in a couple times and she hasn't had any accidents being out of the crate.

Needless to say, we're gaga over this girl!   She's so great with our little girls too.

Thanks for checking in.  Hope you and your family are well.   I will be in touch!

kristin

Huck: December 2009

I wanted to give you a quick update on Huck. He is wonderful!!!! He
is now 74 lbs about 23 inches at his shoulders. He has crazy hair
that we love and is just about the cutest thing ever. He is my lap
dog. Every night we cuddle on the couch and he lays all over me. He
is a lot of dog for your lap but I love that he is so cuddly.

Huck can now hold his own with Rocket. They spend a ton of time
wrestling in the backyard. The make a lot of noise and sound vicious
but their tails wag and they always look forward to play time. Huck
recently went on his first snowshoeing outing. He was in doggie
heaven running around in the snow. Also, there is a Goldendoodle in
the neighborhood that Huck plays with most Friday afternoon. He is
really well socialized with people and other dogs. We really feel
that a lot of that is owed to you and all of the time you spend
handling and working with the puppies.

I cannot tell you how many people stop us and say what a nice
temperament he has especially for such a young dog. It seems that
most of the doodles here are creams or apricots. Huck is always a big
hit when we are out for walks.

We are so thrilled with Huck and want to thank you again for all of
the love and time you put into your puppies. It definitely shows. We
recommend you to anyone who is considering getting a Labradoodle.

Happy Holidays,

Jennifer

 Tanner:October 2009

What a fantastic dog he is turning out to be! He was so easily house-broken and was the star of his obedience class as he caught on so quickly to new commands. He won over my husband, Jerry, who was a little reluctant to have another dog (he's the one who picks up the poop in the yard). Jerry now calls him HIS dog and says he never imagined he could become so attached to a dog! Tanner is just as fond of Jerry... wherever one is, the other is near by. I'm a little jealous! They go walking once or twice a day and JERRY HAS LOST 20+ POUNDS! Another great reason to get a Labradoodle!!!!

Tanner had an accident when he was 12 weeks old, a heavy piece of tile fell on his for-leg and caused hairline fractures of three of his "hand bones". His vet and an orthopedic vet collaborated and he wore a cast for four weeks (until he literally GREW out of it). He then had another consultation with an orthopedic vet and had to wear soft splints on BOTH legs for another two weeks! One to support the healing leg and the other to support the good leg which was strained from bearing all his weight during the casted period. During this whole time we were instructed to keep him on "cage rest"... Practically IMPOSSIBLE for a lively Labradoodle pup!!!! The story ends well...... Tanner is happy and healthy with no left-over signs of his injury. In fact, when we come home from being out, Tanner greets Jerry by springing completely into the air his whole body as high as Jerry's chest! When he is old enough, we may even try him out for agility.

He has retained many of the characteristics you described to us before we got him. He still loves to put both front feet in the water dish when he drinks, only now its not only his front feet but he just jumps right onto the wading ledge of our pool and walks around in the water .... many times a day! Also we have a nice soft bed for him in our bedroom, but every morning we find that he has wandered out to the patio through our open bedroom sliding door and prefers to sleep on a towel on the patio.... he is a house-dog who loves the out-doors! All the neighbors love him because he loves the front yard and spends lots of time there (his choice) quietly greeting people as they pass by our fence. We can't imagine life without TANNER!

Thank you, Maila

Clover: November 2009

Hi Maila,

How are you?? I'm sorry this update is so overdue! I've been really meaning to update you on the how Clover is doing:) So, here is the scoop....

Health Update: Right now she is just over 5 months and she is about 50 pounds.  She finished all of her shots on 9/1/2009 and she is healthy and doing well.  I think the biggest struggle for us has been the pulling of the ear hair.  At first this was really hard to do but luckily Evan is willing and it is nice for her to have clean ears.  We have also purchased ear cleaning solution.  Do you have any recommendations for this?  None of our friends really clean their dogs ears! We just got a basic solution from the vet.

We are planning on getting her spayed on December 17th.  This is about 6 1/2 months, do you think this is okay?  We can try to move it up if you think it would be better but this way we have some extra time off work to spend with her.

Other than that, all is well.  She loves to chew, but has done remarkably well sticking to toys and chews that we've given her.  Sure, there is the occasional shoe but for the most point she understands what she can chew and what is off limits (she is so smart!). Do you have any recommendations for natural chews?  We try to limit the amount of rawhides because we have heard these are not as healthy for the dog's stomach.

Temperament Update:  She loves spending time outdoors and hiking on the weekends! We take her for at least two walks a day.  There are several neighborhood dogs that she is familiar with so she gets some doggie play time:)  We've taken her to a dog park and she does great with all the other dogs. On a one-to-one basis she is still learning dog language and figuring out which dogs she can greet right away and which dog need space. She does great during car rides.  I know there was a concern about nipping and we will occasionally have trouble with this when she is  REALLY excited.  For the most part, this is not an issue and she is easily re-directed.

Update on our Plans: So, I thought I'd give you an update on our entire family. We are planning on moving to Chicago next summer (around July).  Looking for a home with a yard is a big priority for us.  The good news is that Chicago is really dog friendly and in fact I think Clover will really be in her element.  Where we live now is high desert, so there are very few trees, no grass and a lot of "goat heads" (these crazy thorns and that easily get you in the foot/paw) but Chicago is filled with trees, grassy parks and lots of water!  Can you tell I'm a little home sick?? :) We are both originally from Michigan.  Anyways, I think it will be a great fit for all of us.

Maila, thank you so much for bringing Clover into our lives.  We do love her so much and are having such a great time together.  I'll attach a couple of recent pictures for you. One is Clover at the Canyon by our house and the other one is at the Breast Cancer Walk for a Cure...we didn't have her do the entire walk......but she was on the side lines to support my sister and my aunt!

Love,

Jillian, Evan and Clover

Samantha: October 2010

 Maila:

Hello!  How is everything?  I hope school is going well for you.  I just wanted to send a quick email and let you know that Samantha is doing great!   I cannot believe she is 9 months old now!  I am so glad I asked you for help in selecting the newest member of my family.  Samantha is the most lovable dog....she loves everything, people, dogs, children, even cats.   There is a park right across the street and we spend most of our time there running around and playing fetch, although getting the ball back is proving to be more difficult.  And smart too.   She was the first one to do all the tasks in her first puppy class.  Now that we are in Iowa (previously Kansas City), I am looking for a new obedience trainer here.  Samantha is up to 49 pounds and very healthy according to the vet.

I visit your web site regularly to see the latest pairings and newest puppies.  Here are a couple of pictures of Samantha.

Take Care,

Eric Fosdick
